Hello all! An interesting new track I’d like to share with you today – “Dance Shoes” by Aneero. Anyone looking for something a bit different, particularly those with a global ear, will want to check this out. Originally hailing from Ghana and now UK-based, Aneero is particularly taken with the South African sound of amapiano.
To explain what that is, here’s a quote on the music’s origins from Mark Khoza, an MC and artist known in the genre: “There is a guy who would play the keyboard along to a DJ’s set. Even in the studio, he’d play the piano over the recordings. Later, someone else would come with the idea of infusing that practice with deep house. Eventually, Kabza De Small also played the same music. The genre used to be called ‘number’. But MFR Souls came up with the name ‘amapiano’ and popularized it. They are the ones who started it.”
Aneero himself says: “I wanted something a bit more original from the South that also displayed their culture, so I got the original Southern vibe and fused it with afrobeats to make this unique sound.” “Dance Shoes” really does sound strikingly original. Partly that’s down to the intriguing mix of languages on the track – English, Pidgin English, Twi, and Zulu. If you have an eclectic ear and fancy some fresh party music, try it out!
