Lexxicon Returns With His Dancehall & Afrobeat Inspired Single ‘Power Over Me’

Multi-genre artist Lexxicon releases the Dancehall hit ‘Power Over Me’, together with its slick music video. As the first single off of his third album ‘Tropicon Islands’ it builds hype for the forthcoming release, with the single and video available everywhere now.

‘Power Over Me’ is a dancehall classic, but with inspiration from Afrobeat, Raggaeton and Latin music. Its catchy melody weaves smoothly over bouncing 808s and hits. It marks the start of a string of singles, detailing the story of a newly-in-love couple arriving on Tropicon Island, hence the name of the album on which they’re all from. It is an 11-track journey and is followed by the publication of his first self-written fiction novel which is masterfully set to the soundtrack of the album.

Lexxicon himself was born in Jamaica, raised in the UK and US and now resides in Toronto, Canada, so it is no surprise really that his music draws from so many influences. He has had much success with previous albums, leading to features on Exclaim, Now Mag, CBC Radio and RX Music to name a few, and his streams are high too, with hit ‘I Don’t Deserve You’ garnering nearly 90k listens on Spotify alone. And with ‘Power Over Me’, partnered with its tightly choreographed and stylish video, it points towards a brilliant run of new releases for the exciting and talented Lexxicon.

“After travelling to the island, the couple has time to reflect on how they feel about each other.  The song touches on the blinding love that you feel when you’ve found the ‘one’. It’s like nothing else matters because they are all you see, want, and care about.  Almost as if, they have this divine control over you. This is a song for those in love or those in the honeymoon stages of their new relationship” – Lexxicon
