Following a string of critically acclaimed releases: ‘Be My Lover’, ‘Not The One’ and ‘City Of Dreams’. Tobi uses his music to appeal to his audience’s curious nature, as seen throughout the musical statements in his EP ‘Good Guys Don’t Survive’.
Tobi Sunmola is certainly turning musical heads, named as MOBO’s ‘One to Watch‘ and championed by BBC R1 DJ’s including Mistajam and Huw Stephens. Working alongside the likes of Bipolar Sunshine, Joe Hertz and Wretch 32, his music continues to incite intrigue and wonder, as is shown by his innovative visual concept for ‘Amazing Grace’.
Tobi’s passion for music was developed at his local Manchester youth-centre, but really began during his Nigerian upbringing – the early influence of which can be heard in his soul-stirring music. Wanting to give back to his Manchester community, Tobi ran a workshop as the face of the Reebok Classic Collective where one emerging artist was given the opportunity to perform alongside Tobi recently in London.
Speaking about the track Tobi says “I made the track from a place of feeling like I had nothing left to lose. I had this picture in my head of a man falling infinitely and not knowing whether he would survive or not but he smiles as he falls.”
