A Tremendous Transatlantic Treat – Woolfman and JSTEW give their take on 90’s Dance Music

Residing on opposite sides of the world, this collaboration can only be explained as one expensive plane ticket!

Coming from two different musical backgrounds, culture and well… the obvious that has already been stated, this was bound to be an interesting piece of music.

How does it sound?

From the first instance the vibe is very reminiscent of Calvin Harris’ new single featuring Sam Smith ‘Promises’  due to the leading soulful vocal being accompanied by a 90’s house piano in the background. As the song continues, it continues to lead with the vocal with a plethora of white noise effects. The overall structure of the song is within the classic strophic form of a pop track, but has elements of an uncut extended mix that would be heard any House DJ’s mix in Ibiza.

The overall mix of the track is good. The percussion can be slightly lost in the mix as it progresses, but nothing can be taken away from the fantastic vocals that Jordan Stew (JStew) provides on this track.

The two remixes of this track by the talented Mr E are contrasting, but are level in quality with the original, and may be preferred by some due to the current influx of Minimal House/Techno lovers (ah we do love millennials and their trends…)

So… what’s the message?

JStew had some excellent words that explained the message behind this track, he states that:

this track started as a ballad, a lullaby. Woolfman wanted to inject some life and irony to it. The song started from a dream “dream a little dream”.  Now it’s a living dream, alive in the clubs and across the world”.

This collaborative effort can be considered as one of the best in the world, purely down to the effort and passion that has gone into creating it. The late passing of the incredibly talented Aretha Franklin has brought to light one of my favourite quotes, which is incredibly relevant to this particular collaboration and will conclude this feature.

Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It’s uplifting, it’s encouraging, it’s strengthening” – Aretha Franklin
